King’s Starter For Ten

Ricky King stormed to victory in the SDS 2 Main Competition Event 1 in Swanage after beating Dan Perry 4-1 in the Final, averaging 95.72 and opening with a break of throw through a 111 finish in the first leg.

The Englishman wrapped up the win with a Shanghai 120 finish to take the title, earning himself 32 points to move above Raymond Marshall into thirteenth in the rankings with many not playing this weekend because of only two events over the weekend’s action.

Perry can be happy with his performance in the Final hitting the only maximum of the pair and averaging 92.88 himself on Thursday night.

ADC Number 1 Matt Jackson lost in the Last 16 of this week’s Bar501 Kingswood Round Robin event against John Brown in Bristol. The Action picked up 2 points but because many didn’t grace the oche this weekend, it can still be seen as a good performance extending his lead from Adam Atkinson in second to 345 points.

PDC Tour Card holder Brown went on to lose in the Final at the hands of Ricky Palmer who included a 110 finish to break throw in the second leg, racing to a 4-1 Final victory. The 37-year-old won his second event of the year going one point behind last week’s Bank Holiday double champion Diogo Portela, sitting 26th with 271 points.

Harry Gregory a future star of the game lost in the Final of the Riley’s Chorlton September GSoD to Phil Dennant 5-1. The youngster didn’t drop a leg in his Semi Final win over Jordan Johnston after beating Mark Rice 4-1 in the Last 8 including a 78 checkout to break throw in the second leg.

The Final may however have been one game to many against his fellow compatriot, who averaged over 80 in the Final including a 14-dart leg to break throw in the third leg and lead 3-0.

Next week sees a return to the Winmau Sky Lounge in Washington for Ranking Event 5 on Saturday before the Consett Station Club Ranking Tournament 4 on Sunday.
