Brilliant Bomber Up to Second
Steve Brown won the Charity Darts Singles at the Highbridge Social Club on Saturday, moving up to second ahead of Adam Atkinson in the ADC Rankings.
Matt Jackson reached the Last 16, losing to Owen Bates who included checkouts of 101 and 83 to break the number one ranked player's throw on the way.
Despite his defeat The Action is the first player in ADC history to reach 1000 points having achieved four points for his performance at the weekend and is still sitting 277 points clear of the Bomber.
The Bristol man beat Kieran Spurdle 5-4 in the Final and included an 87 checkout to break throw in the ninth leg using just fifteen darts.
The new ADC Number 2 beat the likes of Tom Martin and Lee Gregory en route to picking up 64 ranking points in what was his ninth title of the year, including the likes of Winmau Championship Tour 3 and the Bar501 Kingswood Round Robin: a crown he has won more than once so far.
Phil Borthwick was a big mover in the rankings, moving from the fifteenth to eighth after winning at the Consett Station Club 2022 (Ranking Tournament 3) beating Paul Dinning 5-2 in the Final on Sunday.
The Englishman also finished as the runner-up in the Knack Ranking Series 5 making it 96 points from two days of action, moving six clear of Geoff Murray in ninth. PDC tour card holder Ryan Joyce claimed victory with a 5-1 win over the in-form veteran, including an 11 dart hold of throw on 41 in the second leg having gone 1-0 down.
The new ADC Number 8 did beat a PDC man on his way to the Final on Saturday, beating Adam Hunt 4-0 in the Quarter Final with an average of 80.16 before a 4-3 victory over Kevin McDine in the Semis, two players that have played on the Ally Pally stage in their darting careers.
SupaMC despite defeat in the Final 4 continued his recent good form, achieving 16 points for his performance in Seaham moving up to eleventh in the rankings and seventeen clear now of Ricky King in twelfth.
Graham Elvidge won the Streamline Taxis York Open Event 12 after beating Carl Wilkinson 5-2 in the Final, including an opening victory against the last York Open winner and Terriers title holder Adam Warner, winning 3-1 at the Huntingdon Men’s Working Club.
The Scarborough man reached the Semi-Finals last time out in Event 11 but went one better on Saturday claiming a huge 64 points to go towards his rankings score as he currently sits in 42nd, just a point behind Ricky Palmer.
The arrows continue next weekend with a return of the Winmau Championship Tours, this time set to take place in Manchester as many look to boost their chances for the World Darts Open at the Forum Hall for the fifth and sixth installment of the year.
